A new collectible coin series has launched which will feature different Disney Princesses. The inaugural gold and silver coins in the series feature Cinderella.
In the classic fairy tale Cendrillon ou la Petite Pantoufle de Verre by Charles Perrault, Cinderella escapes mistreatment by her stepmother and stepsisters to find true love with her Prince. Walt Disney’s Cinderella was an animated film based on the classic fairy tale released on February 15, 1950. The film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Music, Best Song, and Best Sound Recording and was one of the highest grossing feature films of the year.
It is said that Walt Disney regarded the transformation of Cinderella’s torn dress into a shimmering gown fit for a Disney Princess as his favorite piece of animation.
The reverse design of the coin features an iconic image of Cinderella surrounded by delicate flowers. The inscription Disney Cinderella completes the design, with the weight and fineness of the coin also appearing. The obverse contains the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II along with the 2015 date and monetary denomination.
The gold coin is struck in 99.99% purity to proof quality with a weight of 1/4 troy ounce. No more than 1,000 of the coins will be released.
The silver coin features the same reverse design as the gold coin, enhanced by color. The silver coin is struck in 99.9% purity to proof quality with a weight of 1 troy ounce. No more than 10,000 of the coins will be released.
Both coins are officially licensed Disney products issued as legal tender under the Pacific Isle of Niue. Each coin is presented in special Disney wooden display case and packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Throughout the next 12 months, additional releases of the series will showcase various Disney Princess characters.
These and other officially licensed Disney coins can be found available for sale on the Perth Mint website.
