Disabled Veterans Commemorative Coin Design Unveiling

The designs for the 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar will be unveiled by US Mint Director Ed Moy on August 22, 2009. Although design candidates have been released and evaluated by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee and Commission of Fine Arts, the final obverse and reverse design choices have not yet been revealed.

The images below represent two of the obverse and two of the reverse design candidates for the Disabled Veterans Commemorative Silver Dollar.

Disabled Veterans Silver Dollars

The unveiling will take place at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 2009 National Convention. It will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Plaza Ballroom, Plaza Building, Concourse Level, 1550 Court Place, Denver Colorado 80102.  The ceremony will also be attended by DAV National Adjutant and DVLMF President Arthur Wilson and DVLMF Board Member Diane Musselmann.

The commemorative coins were authorized under Public Law 100-277 the American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Coin Act. Silver dollar coins will be minted in uncirculated and proof versions at the West Point Mint. The coins will have a combined maximum authorized mintage of 350,000 coins. Surcharges raised from the sale of coins will be paid to the Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation (DVLMF).
