As of 4 p.m. on Friday, December 2, the Uncirculated 5-ounce silver Cumberland Gap issues in the America the Beautiful series are approaching sold-out status. (The Theodore Roosevelt National Park 5-ounce Uncirculated coins were officially declared sold out yesterday; the Shawnee National Forest strikes have been sold out for some time.)
Item 16AK in the Mint’s catalog, the Cumberland Gap coins have approximately 75 remaining in stock. They can be purchased from the Mint at $149.95.
The 5-ounce Uncirculated silver Harpers Ferry National Historical Park coins, while not quite in the “red zone” (so to speak), were reported to have sold 17,928 units as of November 27. The other 2016 5-ounce coins in the series reached their sold-out points at roughly 18,500 to 18,800 units sold.
Once sold out, the coins can usually be purchased on the secondary market (albeit at a markup) from vendors like APMEX or on ebay. ❑
