The China Gold Coin Incorporation in collaboration with the Shenzhen – Guobao Mint, official Mint facility of the People’s Bank of China, have announced the issue of a set of 2012 Chinese Panda gold and silver commemorative coins which will become available on the 30th November 2011. The set consists of 10 coins, including 7 gold coins and 3 silver coins, all of which are legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.
The common obverse of the gold and silver coins features the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (The Temple of Heaven), the title of the People’s Republic of China in Chinese characters, and the year date in western numerals. The reverse design depicts a mother panda and her baby and the coin’s face value.
Specifications and mintage of the 2012 Gold Panda coins: (Bullion strike unless otherwise denoted)
- 20 Yuan: 14 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1/20 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 800,000 pieces.
- 50 Yuan: 18 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1/10 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 800,000 pieces.
- 100 Yuan: 22 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1/4 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 600,000 pieces.
- 200 Yuan: 27 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1/2 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 600,000 pieces.
- 500 Yuan: 32 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1 troy ounce of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 600,000 pieces.
- 2000 Yuan: Proof quality, 60 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 5 troy ounces of pure gold. The maximum mintage is 5000 pieces.
- 10000 Yuan: Proof quality, 90 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1 kg of pure gold. The maximal mintage is 500 pieces.

- 10 Yuan: 40 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The maximum mintage is 8,000,000 pieces.
- 50 Yuan: Proof quality, 70 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 5 troy ounces of pure silver. The maximum mintage is 50,000 pieces.
- 300 Yuan: Proof quality, 100 mm in diameter, .999 in fineness and contains 1kg (32.15 oz) of pure silver. The maximum mintage is 20,000 pieces.
