The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) held a public meeting yesterday on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs to discuss a variety of topics, including the possible designs for the five 2018 America the Beautiful quarters first considered by the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) on June 16. The committee also took a look at images submitted for Barack Obama’s first-term and second-term Presidential Medals, and ultimately chose to recommend the same designs as those put forward by the CFA. The preferred obverse and reverse design candidates for the medals are included below.

Recommendations made by the CCAC and the CFA will now be forwarded to the U.S. Treasury Secretary. The complete portfolio of design candidates considered in yesterday’s meeting can be viewed here. To see bronze versions of previous Presidential medals, please visit the Web site of the U.S. Mint.
