Today’s blog is self-serving in one way and of general interest in other ways.
At age 80, I am deaccessioning my collection of Civil War tokens—patriotic issues as well as store cards. Most are in Mint grade, and prices are mostly from $100 to $500, plus quite a few extremely rare and even unique pieces in the high hundreds or low thousands of dollars.
This series is relatively undiscovered, and rarities sell for tiny fractions of what federal coins command. If you would like my latest e-mail list, for free, drop me a note at and I will send it to you.
Beyond that, check the Whitman website for my Guide Book of Civil War Tokens. Now in its second edition, it is filled with useful information as well as prices. Still further, check the Civil War Token Society website and join—for an unbelievably inexpensive $18 per year, that includes four issues of the great Civil War Token Journal edited by Susan Trask.
An enjoyable experience awaits you!
