The Perth Mint has recently released the 2010 Australian Silver Koala Gilded Edition. This coin features the 2010 Silver Koala with the reverse design gilded in 24 karat gold.
The 2010 Gilded Silver Koala was released on January 29, 2010. The reverse design features a young koala on a branch with leaves of the eucalyptus trees. The image of the Koala is gilded in 24 karat gold. Inscriptions indicate the weight and purity of the coin “1 oz 999 silver”. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark appears near the eucalyptus leaves.
The obverse of the coin features the Ian rank-Boadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions around the outer rim of the coin read “Elizabeth II”, “Australia 2010”, and the legal tender face value “1 Dollar”.
Each coin is presented in a black display case with a blue lid. The case is placed within a shipping box illustrated with an image of a koala. A numbered certificate of authenticity is included with each coin.
The coins are subject to a worldwide limited mintage of 10,000 coins, and are priced at AUD $72.73 each.
