The Perth Mint has created a limited edition three coin set featuring Australia’s most iconic animals. The kangaroo, koala, and kookaburra are featured within colored images on three separate 1/2 oz 99.9% pure silver coins.
The kookaburra coin depicts a colored image of the unusual bird perched on a tree branch with gum leaves. The koala coin features the marsupial slumbering on the branch of a eucalyptus tree. The kangaroo coin depicts a colored image of a standing kangaroo against a bush scene with windmill. Inscriptions on each coin identify the animals and indicate “2012 1/2 oz 999 silver”.
The obverse design for each coin includes the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II with the monetary denomination of “50 cents”.
Each of three coins has silver content of 1/2 troy ounce and is struck in specimen quality. The diameter of each coin is 36.60 mm with a thickness of 2.30 mm. This is a limited offering of the Perth Mint with no more than 5,000 of the three coin sets to be released worldwide.
The sets are packaged in a display case with an illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity.
