Artist Javier Fiore made good use of a snack and a safety pin last week when he carved an impressively detailed likeness of a Buffalo nickel’s obverse into the cream filling of an Oreo cookie.
Coin World points out that Fiore posted an image of his work to the Facebook page of the Original Hobo Nickel Society, where it joined a wide variety of creative coin designs rendered by an array of artists and enthusiasts. When a commenter recommended that Fiore sell the item on eBay, the artist responded, “Hah. I think that rots in the delivery.” That’s too bad; this Buffalo nickel is quite a rarity.
