The United States Mint and National Park Service will hold the official launch ceremony for the 2014 Arches National Park Quarter on Friday, June 6, 2014. Following the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange cash for rolls of the new quarters at face value.
The Arches National Park Quarter is the latest release within the ongoing America the Beautiful Quarters Program, which will feature national parks or sites from each state and territory as well as the District of Columbia. The reverse design for this release features a depiction of Delicate Arch, a 65-foot freestanding natural arch located within the park. The La Sal Mountains are visible in the background.
The launch ceremony will be held at the Arches National Park Visitor Center located at 3015 S. US Hwy 191, Moab, Utah 84532. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM MDT. Since Visitor Center parking is limited, shuttle buses will be available to transport visitors to and from the event. Shuttle service will begin at 7:15 AM from the Helen M. Knight Elementary School in Moab with the last shuttle departing at 8:15 AM.
Invited guests and speakers at the event will include Lieutenant Governor Spencer J. Cox, Mayor Dave Sakrison, United States Mint Deputy Director Richard Peterson, and Arches National Park Superintendent Kate Cannon.
Following the event, attending members of the public can trade their cash for $10 rolls of the new Arches National Park Quarter. This will represent the first availability of circulating quality examples of the quarters. They are scheduled to be released into circulation and available in products from the United States Mint the following week on Monday, June 9, 2014.
