The United States Mint has started accepting orders for the 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. This set provides collectors with the first opportunity to acquire this year’s five different quarters struck in a composition of 90% silver.
This year marks the fifth year of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program featuring national sites or parks from each of the 50 states, 5 territories, and the District of Columbia. Each coin features John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington on the obverse paired with a reverse design representing the park or site.
The designs for 2014 feature:
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee
- Shenandoah National Park in Virginia
- Arches National Park in Utah
- Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado
- Everglades National Park in Florida
The 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set is priced at $31.95 plus applicable shipping and handling. There are no household or product limits established.
Each coin included in the set is struck to proof quality at the San Francisco Mint in a composition of 90% silver and 10% copper. The weight of each coin is 6.250 grams with a diameter of 0.955 inches. The five coins are packaged in a single protective lens which is placed in an illustrated outer box with certificate of authenticity.
Later in the year, the US Mint will also release the five silver proof quarters within the 2014 Silver Proof Set. This product is scheduled for release on March 25, 2014.
