The 2010 Australian Silver Koala has now been released by the Perth Mint. These coins feature the well known Koala and are struck in 99.9% pure silver in four different denominations.

The Silver Koala was first offered by the Perth Mint in 2007. The silver bullion coins are produced in addition to their predecessors, the Silver Kookaburra. The Silver Koalas similarly have a different reverse design each year featuring the Australian animal. The different designs and high quality finishes have made this coin popular with many bullion and coin collectors.
The 2010 Silver Koala features a Koala sitting on a tree branch eating leaves against a plain background. The "P" mint mark for the Perth Mint appears near one of the leaf branches. The inscription includes the weight of the coin and "999 silver". The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions "Elizabeth II", "Australia", and the denomination.
The coins are available in 1/2 oz, 1 ounce, 10 ounce, and 1 kilo sizes. All sizes have been available since September 1, 2009 except for the 1/2 ounce size which will be available from March 2010. No mintage limits will apply to any size coin.
