The Perth Mint recently unveiled their line up for the 2010 Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins. The coins offered range from 1/10 oz to 1 kilo in weight, and contain 99.99% pure gold. Most of the coins feature limited mintages. The Gold Kangaroo has been offered by the Perth Mint since 1989 with a different reverse deign featuring the kangaroo, one of the most recognizable symbols of Australia.
The 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz 2010 Gold Kangaroo coins feature a scene of two kangaroos boxing in the outback. The reverse inscriptions include “Australian Kangaroo”, the date “2010”, “.9999 Gold”, and the gold weight. The maximum mintages are 350,000 1 oz coins, 1000, 1/2 oz coins, 150,000 1/4 oz coins and 200,000 1/10 oz coins.
The 1 kilo 2010 Gold Kangaroo will feature a classic kangaroo design by Dr. Stuart Devlin, AO CMG goldsmith and jeweler to Queen Elizabeth II. The mintage for the 1 kilo gold coin will be unlimited.
The obverse of each coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II. The inscriptions read “Elizabeth II”, “Australia”, and the face value. The 1 oz gold coin has a face value of “100 Dollars”.
All coins will contain the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark and will be available worldwide beginning on September 1, 2009.
