Apparently the Federal Bank won’t sell any James Polk dollars to our local BofA or Wells Fargo banks here in Arizona so I can’t buy any. Do you know the reason for this?
In general, it seems to have become more difficult since the end of the State Quarters series for banks to get rolls of newly minted coins.
The Federal Reserve supposedly does have special ordering processes in place for the Presidential Dollars. Your local banks may have missed the ordering period.
Here is the Federal Reserve’s paper on the special ordering period (pdf doc) http://www.frbservices.org/files/operations/pdf/polk_2up.pdf
